S80: Problem with power windows.
Hi,
I have a new 2009 S80 2.0D SE, just two weeks old. Got up this morning and found all four windows fully down! Thankfully, there wasn't a lot of rain last night but there was some and the door panels and seats on one side got wet (heart-breaking). Initially, I thought that one of the remotes might have been inadvertently activated inside the house as I think that if the unlock button is held down for a period, the windows will be opened. However, the car was still locked. I will, of course, be taking this up with the dealer but that won't be for a few weeks as he is not local. In the meantime, does anyone know if this is an issue with the S80 or is there anything I could look for? Also, is it enough just to wipe dry the leather seats (standard non-perforated) or should they be treated with something afterwards? Thanks. |

Not heard of that problem.
I would be on the phone to the dealer requesting them to pick it up and leave you a hire car - no matter how far away you are. IMHO - let the leather dry, then get some leather conditioner on it - but again I would get the dealer to do this when they have it in. |

Thanks, Dodgyken. Dealer isn't terribly interested in collecting the car if it isn't disabled in some way. He tried to suggest that it was an accidental operation of the global opening function but that still doesn't explain why the car doors remained locked. He has registered the report and has asked me just to take it in to them for investigation whenever I'm in the area. Looks like that's the best I'm going to get.
Not a nice feeling when you start to distrust a new car. I had a similar experience with a 2002 S60 where the doors would unlock themselves - usually in dodgy neighbourhoods. In that case, all the locks were replaced under warranty. |
