This is my first post as I'm new here, so apologies if what I have to say has been said before. Also, I'm a bit of a layman and no expert. All I can tell is of my own humble experiences.
Took delivery of my D5 R Design at the end of October. Previously had a V50 2.0D SE Sport. Engines in both cars are fine, but not sure how well the V70 will cope with a 2.0D, although I think there's greater power output from the V70 2.0 litre engine. I was sad to see my old V50 go, but the sadness soon went once I got to grips with the V70. The V50 had an anti-roll bar which was great for cornering. Not so in the V70 R Design but lowered suspension is an advantage over the SE in this respect. D5 engine is great for me, but will probably get me in trouble with the old bill some day! The R Design is well specified and the interior seems to be of good quality. I love the leather seats, which are supportive and comfortable. Mine is black leather with ivory inserts, black dash with aluminium - it's all basically black and white, just like my favourite team, but perfoming better! Economy not great at around 37 mpg on longer journeys (haven't done much motorway cruising so could be better) after 5,000 miles. Not good knocking around the streets as it drops below 30 mpg, but then the V50 was only doing 37 on average (though I must confess to driving cars rather hard!). Handbreak isn't an issue now that I've got used to it - seatbelt on, dip clutch after inserting ignition key etc., though for some reason it doesn't always release automatically If I have just refueled and left the ignition key in during the process. Which ever engine/trim level you go for, if you are anything like me you will be pleased with your purchase. Kev. |
