I could have sworn, either online or on phone to DVA before I started this process they stated it takes 5-10 working days. This is day 11, no contact, I phoned them, they've no trace of anything being done( other than it was signed for by someone) .... Zilch.... Nada, what a pathetic and disingenuous way to run their operation.
Oh, but being signed for doesn't mean they have it, it takes 2 days to get from sorting room to an operative, couldn't make it up! They said they'd contact me in 48hrs, not holding my breathe. P

Well true to their word, they phoned me back, basically it all takes longer than you'd think etc, but in 2019 to taking 4 weeks minimum to process a few bits of paper is a joke (could take 6 weeks!), DVA aint fit for purpose, a big FAIL IMHO.
We are still in the EU, theres supposed to be free movement of goods and people, no there isn't.......what a con! When I did this once before 20 years ago in my local office it was done there and then, 15 wait, 20 mins to sign off. No wonder the UK is so dysfunctional, a joke at the payers expense! P

In the bus industry we regularly import from Ireland when large batches of mid-life buses come up for sale by Dublin Bus (incidentally nearly all Volvos). Not sure of the process but as it's such a popular method of budget end private hire companies buying newer vehicles presumably it's reasonably easy, and that's despite having to make modifications to them to allow them to pass a PSV MOT in the UK.

22 days after applying, the V5 arrived, no plates awaiting a dry spell before getting stuck on!
