Default New Rubber, Rims & Aftermarket...

Well, on my way to work this morning I had a few peeps beeping and waving... turned out my driver side rear was running flat...!! Great.
Stopped, had a look...Had a nice big screw stuck in one of the 4 continental tyres. (i'm on my second week in the car)

Visited local tyre place at lunchtime and was told that repair was unlikely due to location.... I saw someone else mention Accelera Iota on a tyre thread.. so I popped a pair of them on the rears.
I've never been too much of a rubber junkie and to get 2 big chunky tyres for the price of replacing one makes sense to me.

Anyway, I asked them to ensure balanced etc as I've been getting a bit of vibration at 60>80mph... The fitter showed me one rim that looked as if someone had a bash at it (very lightly) with an angle grinder or something?? and the other had 'nsf' written in the rim suggesting that it came off the front. (I had heard that previous owner was a fan of getting dealer to swap winter tyres etc)

On the balance machine they were bouncing slightly...

His advice was to look into some new rims..

Now the Q's..
Anyone else using the Accelera Iotas on their XC90?
Would swapping the rims round do some damage?
Can anyone recommend decent 18" aftermarket rims that wont break the bank and look good? (or selling Atlantis rims?)
What rims/sizes should I be looking for? (So I can keep tyres)

Hi Jickinleeds, had these 18s fitted after seeing another forum member posted a pic and liked the look. Have to say I am very pleased with them and they were not ridiculously priced.

Bought from (and fitted by) Pemberton Tyres in Wigan.

With new boots all round - General Grabber GTs - and new set of locking wheel studs to fit, £995 all in. So would expect the wheels on their own to be very reasonable.

Hi, I was that guy, glad you like your new rims. Yes I have the tyres mentioned fitted in all corners of my xc90. I did have a slight judder but that was due to uneven tyre pressure. They don't really check what they are filling to when changing. Learnt that lesson on a bmw with run flats on at £235 a piece. I've got 39 psi across the board. The owner of pem tyres told me he fits loads of those tyre to x5s and so with repeat custom. Infact a lad at work pulled me yesterday asking where I'd got them from because he's got some on his disco and he wanted more. I certainly will be replacing them like for like when they've worn down. I've done around 2000 miles on them and at service last week there was 7mm on all four.

I think mine were around the £830 mark for the same rims as above with 18 inch iotas tyres fitted from Pemberton tyres. They are fox alloys, cannot remember they name, look under my posts and you will find details.

I can report the following information for the forum users following my upgrade to 18 inch fox racing rtt riva alloys on my active 2010:Ride improved over 17 inch wheels, feels smoother.
Turning circle improved!
Handling improved, feels more solid and smoother on road.
Road noise, slightly quieter I believe.
Aesthetics vastly improved !!!

I purchased the lot from Pemberton tyres, paid £833 with four mid range tyres. The tyres are great in my opinion.
