2010 V70 D5 diesel injectors (fuel Lines)
Right so I told a mate I'd sort his V70 out, it's had a cracked ac pump bracket so the ac lines were vibrating on the cross member, I ve since sorted this by replace the bracket and now that's all sorted.
The car also has a chuffing injector, so need the copper sealing washer replaced, this is the first time I've worked on a volvo and I'm having issues with the injector I've searched online and thus fourm but can't find the relevant information. I've disconnected the fixed metal fuel lines and got the 2 bolts holding the injector out and got movement in the clamp, the issue I'm having is removing the fuel lines that run along the top of the injectors that piggy back on to each other, it looks like a quick release fitting, but I'm unable to remove them and obviously don't want to force them and break it as its only plastic, can only find videos and pictures of the old style injector. Do I need a special tool to remove this lines, my only option is to remove/cut the rubber fuel Lines and replace them after, but would rather just disconnected the the fitting. Any advice / help would be appreciated |

Hi - Do you mean the leak-off lines?
These are held in place with a spring clip that should pull off to one side with a pair of pliers. The lines then pull up (with some force I might add). They have a small sealing washer on the end that can wear down too so may be worth replacing. The lines do leak too - I've replaced mine and also zip tied them on to help a little! There's an "upgrade" washer that's a tiny bit bigger for the end too and I put this on. No leaks since. Mine is a 2008MY D5 so slightly earlier than yours so this may not stand for your later model?

Newer style
So hopefully these images come up it's the newer style injector, also managed to snap the little plastic pipe removing the fuel lines from the leak off pipe, looking like I'm going to have to repair this as can't seem to buy a replacement leak off pipe clip

So just to update this thread, I managed to get the injector out, using a threaded bush that screwed onto the fuel inlet of the injector and I threaded a slide hammer into the other end of the bush, just took my time and gently knocked it out, came out in 5 minutes and it was in real state lots of dried carbon around the injector.
So if anyone has similar problems on these 2010 injectors on a D5, you're best off having a slide hammer so much easier, again could of run the engine to temp prior to using hammer to aide in removal, but didn't have to in the end. And with regards to the leak off pipes it was just easier to cut the fuel lines off and replace, I ordered new fuel line for like £5 Last edited by Griff1234; Apr 22nd, 2020 at 15:35. |
