car unlocking itself
Morning all , On several occasions i have found my 2002 v40 unlocked ! I definately lock it with the remote and after the first time it happened i am careful not to touch the remote when unlocking my house door (on same keyring). I have asked neighbours to try their zappers on it and they do not affect it (all non volvo's) .I park at the end of a cul de sac out of view of the house so its a bit worrying. Anybody have any ideas please ? It happens once every two or three weeks Many thanks, Steve.

Make sure all the Doors & Boot are CLOSED CORRECTLY (no Seat Belts trapped in em Ect ect) .... if they are NOT "Shutting" properly the Locking mech will "Bounce Open" & leave the car unlocked ..

First of all, try to clean the switch located at the bonnet catch. Then do another test. There is a switch for each door on the car frame. What you can do, is to check each one of them individually. To do this, open one door at a time and push the switch. Wait for a few seconds until the lights in the car are turned off. If they don't, then that switch could be at fault. In that case, see here: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=109529

Mine does this. Lock it, lights flash, etc etc. If you keep listening to it, it sounds like a pump clicks amd groans. Door pins don't come up, but you can open the drivers door. No other door, just drivers. The alarm still goes off so not too fussed about it

That could indicate 2 things. Either the motors inside are worn to bits, or the locks are building up dirt or rust. The more you leave it, the worse it can get. One thing I did with my car, was to remove every lock and make sure that it was clean and that all moving parts were moving freely. I also checked the motors to make sure they were ok. I greased them up and put everything back together. The drivers locking mechanism on mine was a bit stiff, so I replaced it with a spare I had.
