The musical variety, not the cold, hard stuff!

I'm currently trying to fit a sub and amp in my (97) S40 and it's all going well apart from trying to find a good earth in the boot. The earth for the boot light just disappears into the loom and ditto the rear lights. Should be so simple, yet causing me such frustration...

Anybody had / solved this problem?

By the way, having just lost my Volvo virginity, first impressions are good. VERY comfy, refined, quick (but thirsty!) and generally nice to drive.
Don't like the sound of the servicing costs though.......

I put my earth for my amps on the bit of metal below the rear light, i drilled a hole and self tapped it to the point, it won't ever rust cos its still inside the boot area and isn't exposed to outside.

Cool, sounds like the easiest option. I'll get the drill out...

Ok, everything's in and working but now when you get out and touch the car you get a little zap off it. What causes this? A bad earth?

I had this on my Merc, once i fitted parking sensors,
got so annoying I eneded up finding a proper earth point and all was well, so may be worth looking for an existing earth point

i'm not to sure but it could be. When i make a new earth point i always drill the hole then go around it with a wire brush to remove the paint around it to make sure its a good contact. I've moved my battery to the boot so the whole cars electrics are earthed thru a new earth point & so far so good
