Volvo garage in Surrey?
Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone would be able to recommend a good garage in Surrey (in and around the M3ish if possible, I'm in TW15) that would be happy to handle a Volvo. There's a Volvo dealership around the corner from work (Chiswick) so I asked them for a quote to replace VVT pulley/timing belt, drain & replace the various fluids, change the gear linkage and diagnose/reset my srs light - quote came back at nearly £2,800 (inc VAT so that's a bargain..) Quote for vvt/timing belt replacement alone came back at £360 .. I don't understand how the other bits and bobs can rack up a bill like that though? I'm not confident enough to attempt the vvt myself and don't really have a safe, level area at home to jack it up and do fluids/gear linkage either cheers, Trond! |

think she's consumed too much of the plant to be able to pop out anything. she could at least offered to supply lunch every day for a year included with that quote!

Sorry, can't really recommend anywhere as I try and do my own work on the car. I used to use a Volvo indy in South Norwood who were ok, but after not topping up my battery on a service, I decided to do it myself.
Charlwood Volvo seem to be a well respected Volvo indy, close to Gatwick Airport. Haven't used them myself so don't really know. Likewise GB Autos in Worcester Park, sure I heard good things about them, they're closer to you. £2,400 is a joke for that work, £360 seems like a reasonable price for a main dealer to do the VVT and timing belt, but quite how a service, a gear linkage change and a light reset can come to £2,000 beggars belief.

Yes, I took the VAT off as you can't blame them for that

£2800 for that is ridiculous!
I can get my entire engine taken out, top and bottom parts stripped, forged con rods installed with new piston valves and other rebuild bits and put back together installed for less than that WITHOUT discount and that's including the 15 hours labour at £134 per hour at my local Volvo! Expect 300-400 for the belt/VVT changes but fluid changes shouldn't cost much at all. |
