Steering wheel locks can act as a deterrent for casual and opportunist thieves. They won't stop the determined professionals, though. If you do decide to fit one, big and bold is best.

Answer to question 1.....Yes, why not? For the amount they cost they are a sound investment. As Wagon Sailor said, if someone is REALLY determined they won't necessarily stop them, though it will slow them down, but unless you have a really exceptional car would they bother?

Answer to question 2.....I have a Krooklock on both of my cars, (bought them back in the 1970's and 80's). Although they are not "big and bold" as WS suggested, (and I can understand his reasoning), they are easily stored beside the driver's seat when not in use.

Agreed, 'W.S.', but we need more information before we can offer any more specific advice or recommendations. For example, many older devices will not work on newer cars with thick rimmed wheels and airbags. I've recently given two away which I used on my 1 and 2 series cars, but were incompatible with either my present V70 or our Saabs.

Regards, John.

Unless they cover the entirety of the wheel, they're not worth the metal they're made from. A steering wheel is cut in seconds with a grinder, bent back and the lock slipped off.

What car have you got? A desirable classic?

Ok, so apparently you've got a MY21 V60, so nothing to write home about. Thieves aren't targeting them.

As 'W.S.' pointed out (Post #2 above) they may not deter a professional going equipped to steal a car to order, but one might just cause an opportunist felon looking for a ride home after a night on the town to move on to a 'softer' target. With that, it would have achieved it's objective.

Regards, John.

That's what I like about the Krooklock. It prevents the steering wheel from being turned and it prevents the clutch pedal from being depressed. I always fit it with the car, (a V70), parked and in first gear.

Do people who fit these big lumps of metal to their steering wheels also have keyless entry for the convenience?
