I've used Comma X-Tech 5W30 in all my Volvo's (2.0D, D4 (VEA), D5 163 and D5 185 etc.) 4 cylinder and 5 cylinder.
It's reasonably priced, A5/B4 ACEA spec. In this country there is no real impact on using 5W- over 0W. But if that worries you Comma also do the Voltech product and Eco-V. The reason why the VEA engines are recommended to have 0W20 spec is a lower viscosity oil for economy, you will not harm it running on W30. I know I'm going to get shot at for saying this but the Volvo engines are so well made they will run comfortably on just about any fully synthetic motor oil, the bigger risks are oil burning/leaving solids in the turbo and noise/accelerate wear from the tappets. That's been my opinion and practice for 10 years - if anyone's got an account on how they damaged an engine using a minor variation in oil specification then I'll reflect on it...

The correct spec for my XC90 E4 D5 is 0-30 w just as it was in my S60 E4 D5.
I ran the S60 on Mobil 1 ESP 5-30w ( low saps for the DPF ) and did not have the slightest problem in the 60k miles that I owned it. Based on this as soon as I bought the XC90 I did an oil and filter change and put the same Mobil 1 in it. If I was the OP with 158k miles on it I would definitely switch to 5-30w and in addition, I agree with every word in his summing up of how the mileage has been put on his car and why it should still have loads of life left in it.
