Umm, for those of us who are ignorant and not VOC members ... what's the BKV...?
Hi Stephen the BKV stands for best kept volvo.Although some of us have been quitely compaigning to change it to just bring your volvo.Basically only volvo owners club members are allowed to park thier cars for show.If you turn up and not a member you will have to park in the carpark and walk over to see us.

I did this at first but decided to pay the yearly sum of £29 just so I could be a real part of the group. My cars never really fitted any categorie as thier are several categories for showing.Things have improved however. And now all members cars are parked on the field but thier are two rows,One row who wish to show them and another that don't.I just put"Do not judge"in the front windscreen.

I'm hoping as this is a one off for the anniversary the powers that be might allow non members to park with us as we need as many as possible to attend.
We will have to see what is allowed.Who knows after meeting all of us very nice people with mountains of knowledge you might just pay the membership cost? After all the owners club does pay for the running of this forum so the money won't exactly be wasted. You can get discounts on parts as well from volvo. Also discount with your insurance depending who you go with.

Also as a member you could turn up on the friday and bring your caravan if you have one,And a meal on saturday ready for the main show on sunday.BKV.

Any questions then just contact me or Prufrock and I'm sure we can fill you in.
Regards Brian.

1988 E plate 744, 2.3 turbo with ZF autobox. 130 silver metallic with blue interior and half leather/checker fabric seats.
Only owned it a month now, very showable but isn't top level as such.
Depending on commitments nearer the time and non-member agreements i would like to go.
I've been to many PVS so BKV is probably up my street.
Regards.

Not sure on the codes, but dark blue with orangey/beige leather.

Not sure about the meet yet.
Ian, have you voted on 764 because I have and it's still showing only one, not two?

Hi fellow 700 series owners.
In my earlier reply to stephen I foolishly said I hoped we could arrange for non members to be allowed to park thier cars with the voc members..It doesn't look likely after reading the reply in the 30th anniversary post which basically see's the 700 as nothing special in fact it's just an old version of a more refined 940.I'm not at all sure it will be worth taking the trouble to drive all the way there for the non members as the car park you WILL have to park in is quite a distance from the show area.So if you want to come just to see all the pretty cars then drive up in anything you like as it doesn't really matter.

To be honest If I were you and I was once(non member)Don't bother to come as you wont be welcome(Apparently). We don't need to encourage new members as we have enough already.

Just fed up trying to recruit new members to the voc when basically there is no encouragement for doing so.

A fed up of trying Brian VOC member since 2006.

i have made a request for a seperate area to the BKV 7/9lineup so that all those wanting to attend the 30th anniversary can do so i am waiting for an answer.
Ipersonally feel that the 7series is just as special as the 1 2 3 4 and 8+SERIES,after all i beleive the 3 series are putting on a display so why not the 7series..I am still waiting on an answer from Nigel Ayling re my request..regards sunnyvic,,VOC Disabled register

See the anniversary thread Vic.

I find the 7 and 9 together as ridiculous as it is arbitrary - the 700 is a classic Volvo, the 900 has a foot in a new era (Wilsgaard vs Horbury).

Perhaps someone could explain why the 3 is so special? I am not criticising enthusiasts of the car, but it lacks Swedish DNA (which the 700 has for all to see), after all it is a DAF.

Perhaps in the S40/40 section we should allow the Mitsubishi Charisma - same platform, same factory! My Wife's even has a Mitsubishi engine.

This underlines how arbitrary these decisions are, and have been.

Regards, Prufrock.
