'abs / antiskid service required'
Hello!
I own a 2004 S40 2.0D SE. Euro 3 I believe? (New Shape) I know this is a known issue with these Volvos flagging up this error message.. Ive done some digging read a lot of threads but I seem to have different problems so tomorrow Im going to take a look and see if I can see anything. Im just wanting some pointers as to where I should start looking and when i put it on computer what codes to look out for etc if you kindly will Problems: Start car no warning lights. Drive a few miles press brake and it feels like ABS is slightly trying to work. The pedal seems to feel kind of bumpy like it does when ABS kicks in. It doesn't feel normal though and Im not skidding.. I could be doing 5mph and it still does it. Then moments later ABS light comes on shortly followed by the message. Whilst this light comes on I can feel a sudden loss of power especially in 4th, 5th, 6th gear. 4th gear seems to have a lag. Revs also stick on slightly. Car appears to enter some sort of limp mode but is still drivable just struggles a lot more top end. The main concern for me was yesterday. I had to brake suddenly which would have warranted the ABS kicking in as I started to skid. Instead of the ABS kicking in the whole car seemed to short out. Engine/lights/steering. Everything shut down for around a second or 2. Engine kept running though. Possible bad connection/earth?? (Very strong burning smell but could have been tires.) Has anybody else experienced anything else like this? Its gradually getting worse and Im hoping not to have to buy a new module from the dealer! Can these units be refurbished? Car has been subject to bad conditions because of the snow and grit etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
