Turn off DSTC
I understand traction control cannot be turned off but the anti wheel spin can.
I drive a 2009 s40 1.6 petrol r design sport. How do I turn it off. Have read pressing the reset button does it but I can't see one. On the indicator stalk I have a little scroll wheel on the back and a button on the end, neither turn it off. |

Is there not a reset button in front (to the right of as you are looking at the steering wheel) of the scroll wheel?
That's where it is on my 08 c30. Or is there a button at the bottom of the warterfall dash or just in front of the gear stick? |

Early models there is a button by the handbreak. Later models you need to select it on the click wheel and hold the reset button.

My DSTC is quite relaxed I find in fact I've had some huge wheel spins in a straight line where I've backed off before the computer. Where it does intrude is where you've got some steering angle on. I've got a fair bit of power going through and have never considered turning off the TC so I'm not sure why you'd want to disable it?

I'd agree on a rear wheel drive but a front-driven car is only going to produce more understeer and wallowing about trying to get traction and steer at the same time. I've only ever noticed mine back off a bit if I try to jump on the power too quickly coming out of a bend. I might now try the TC off and report back.

Hi
The only time I switch off my traction control is when going up an icy /snow covered hill. With traction control on the car just ground to a halt as the engine power was just reduced as well. Switched off traction control and with some controlled wheel spin easily made it to the top. One occasion where the system can't cope. Iain |
