Default V50 Petrol 2008

My V50 petrol engine Volvo is 10 years old and has done 45,000 miles. The garage has suggested I have the cam belt replaced because of the age of my car. The milage is much lower than that given for a cam belt change should I have it replaced?

Yeah, I would recommend it. If your timing belt breaks, it’s new engine time so for what it costs and the piece of mind? Go for it.

Cambelt changes are always done on mileage or age (which ever is sooner).

You must have the 1.6 or the 2.4i engine?

that's ok then, the 1.8 and 2.0 don't have a belt and sometimes you never know what garages like to get up.

Sounds expensive that, mine was no more than 350.00 on my 5-cylinder engine. The cambelt isn't really that bad a job on these, does that price include replacing the auxiliary belts and water pump/new coolant?

To change the cam on mine was £195 - £200 with the dealer I supplied some of the parts for them to use. Can do that with an Indy.

Defenitly change the cam, as others said its either the amount of years which is 10 or the mileage which ever comes first

No the price was just for the cam belt. Garages are expensive in Surrey.
