Default Gearbox oil level

How do I check the gearbox oil level in a 2004 diesel V40?

Is the filler hole also the level indicator, i.e., should the oil be up to the edge of the hole?

Thanks

Should have said manual gearbox

I would have thought that's where it should be. Just as the oil starts to drop out of the filler hole. Owners manual should tell you the quantity. Probably around 2Ltr
