I’ve had two broken rear springs on mine. Never noticed first one until vehicle was in for service and they changed it for me. Second one was the off side and I you noticed it was sitting a bit low on the offside and investigated. Both had a 3inch part broken off the bottom.
Might be a common problem. Only Volvo genuine springs used and the car drives perfectly. Not the cheapest option but you get what you pay for and who knows the spec of some of the aftermarket ones?

Picked up by volvo when I went for my seatbelt modification, they informed me that both rear springs where broken, no big bangs, no big bumps just normal road work. But in theory I could have been driving around since my last MOT like that. Car looked no different, drove no different, no sounds on cornering etc. Volvo wanted £147 per spring to replace plus labour.

New springs fitted on Saturday at a local garage. £463 all in for genuine Volvo springs (£290). Garage said all rear bushes were good (85k miles)
Had the car serviced at Volvo last Thursday and they quoted £325 for one spring! Also quoted £600+ to change the front discs and pads even though they don't need doing
