if it is your battery then maybe (if possible) do a full charge with an external charger?

get an 'intelligent' one and leave it to charge (I have an older ring one, but generally the more you pay the higher the amperage and shorter time to charge)

I had the low battery warning, no start-stop and using an external charger it got it all working again (as well a the 'reset' trick, below).

If you replace the main AGM you must reset the BMS computer.

One of the most important parts of the reset is the lifetime clock.

I recently replaced my 2014 D6 PHEV AGM battery.

The good news is you DON'T need VIDA.

Switch On Ignition do not start car.

Switch on dipped beam

Press 6 times the rear fog light switch

Press 3 times the hazard button

The little battery light in the speedo sould now flash 3 times quickly.

If it does not. Wait 20 seconds before trying again.

See below, can't comment on the veracity of the answer, but certainly something to rule out, certainly before you start spending money to solve the problem, possibly in conjunction with giving the main battery a full charge:

"Would OBD-II devices drain the battery when used 24/7?

"I have an ELM 327 (Bluetooth) device which plugs into the OBDII port. Even when the vehicle is turned off, the device is active. Before I realized this, I had left it plugged into my car, came out the next day and the battery was dead. Inside the OBDII port, the power lead there is always on and gives voltage straight from the battery. If there's power there, the OBDII device you have hooked to it will draw power, so will drain the battery"

No. When it was working it would still cut out when in slow or stopping / starting traffic. I kept turning it off and after a week or so try it again but to no avail. Maybe this time it will cure it.

Am I getting the timeline right ?
  • I've suggest that the reader could be draining the battery.
  • You removed the reader to stop the drain.
  • You drove a 100 miles, over the course of which the car would have had the opportunity to charge the drained battery from it's impaired state from the drain caused by the reader.
  • Subsequent to this journey, and it's opportunity to recharge without the drain applied, the Stop/Start has become operational.

Have I misinterpreted something, what is the issue ?
