Default A very expensive lesson.

I am now at the stage of refitting the glass in my PV restoration. I ordered a new green tinted screen along with loads of other parts about 15 months ago. The parts arrived with the screen exceptionally well packaged in cling film, bubble wrap and polystyrene board all round it. So I thought leave as is (for safe storage) until required for fitting. That day arrived last Saturday so I very carefully unpacked the new screen, removed the cling film only to discover to my horror that it was cracked right across. I didn’t get much sympathy from the supplier, so have been forced to order a new one with a minimum 4 week wait. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I know I should have checked the screen in front of the driver at delivery. But as it was so well protected in its sturdy box and all that packing I foolishly presumed all was good. Nothing much has been straight forward on this rebuild but that really was a bummer! No wonder carriers won’t offer insurance cover for screens and the like!
