Default Amplifier fault

Good morning all. I`m after a little help if you can.

My High Performance stereo won`t stay on, all i get is the splash screen then it goes off. I can hear the CD spinning up and can access the air con controls and options/settings for the radio.
I checked the 25 amp fuse in the boot and it was blown. Replaced the fuse and it blew instantly. Checked under the seat for any kind of dampness and there`s none.
Does this mean my amplifier is goosed ? Or is there a common fault that`s an easier fix ?

Also if I have to replace the amp does it have to be coded to the car ?

I had a search on here and found a similar fault but no resolution.

Many thanks

Had this fault this year, the screen would say High Performance Audio and then go off. I also had no beeping from the front or rear parking sensors as they use the audio systems speakers.

The dealer said it was the ICM which is the main module behind the display so I had it replaced, total bill with all fault finding and coding etc was £767 ouch.

They said they had to leave the Module called i think AUU which was for the Ipod and USB in the centre console disconnected as when it got plugged back in it disables the sound system again.

So it turned out not to be the ICM in my case but the AUU unit which they fixed for no extra cost. It was not passing the signal through the MOST fibre optical cable.

Do you have the usb, ipod leads in the centre console?

Hi thanks for your reply.
No mine only has the AUX plug in the armrest.
Had the amp out earlier to make sure there were no chaffed wires unfortunately not reconnected and replaced the fuse which promptly blew again.
Looks like i`m in for an amplifier

Well it turned out to be a faulty diode in the amp. Had it replaced all working again.

Hi Yetti,

Who did you get your amp repaired by?

I have an issue with the amp in my V70 P3. I can;t source a replacement but would love to get it fixed.

Thanks,

Hi sorry for the delay in my reply.
I had it repaired by a friend who dabbles with electronics. He tested the bits inside and found the fault.
