V40 cooling system malfunction
On my 2015 V40 D4 automatic I have been getting the message “Cooling system malfunction - see service“. This first happened 6 weeks ago after a very cold night and this time after a frosty few days. There is no loss of water, in fact, it is slightly above the Max level but I don’t know what it was before. The temperature gauge doesn’t operate when this happens. Sometimes, however, it all works normally without the message and the gauge is OK.
About 6 weeks before this first happened and following an engine management light warning the EGR valve was replaced (free under Volvo warranty). Don’t know if this has anything to do with it. Both times I have taken it to the Volvo dealer and they have cleared the codes but this time it has recurred immediately. it has been booked in for service in a month, but I’ve been given no advice if there is any risk in using it. They don’t seem to have a clue what it causing this and will look into it at the service. I’ve a 400 mile trip next week..... Has anyone else seen this, or any idea what and where the problem could be? |
