2013 Volvo V60 D3 - Nearside rear door locking issue?
Hey all, I am new to Volvo ownership, so thought I would sign up, happy to be back in a Swedish car, ever since selling my SAAB last year.
Anyway, I have an odd intermittent issue... Where the rear passenger rear door will not unlock when using the master switch or the FOB (well it sometimes does...) All other doors will unlock/lock normally. However, the door will unlock by pulling the door handle from the inside. This has made it quite difficult to open the door from the outside? (I have noticed when I lock the car, the offending door makes another click/clunk after the main lock noise?) Any ideas on this...? My car is @ Volvo dealership this weekend for the seat belt recall, is it worth mentioning, or will they fob me and my 8 year old car off |

Default “Rear door central locking problem”, there is the same or similar problem in a thread with the above title, going back to 2017. If you have a spare 1/2 hour you could trace it I’m sure. I have tried very unsuccessfully to copy that post onto your page, but with no joy.
When you take your car in at the weekend I’m sure they will do a courtesy inspection and come up with a list of jobs to do. Regarding your door lock, I think I read parts could be expensive unless you are handy with the spanner’s yourself to save a few quid.

Thanks for your reply,
Yes I did take a search, having searched all night but many of the threads don't state you can still open the door, they were all locked (both sides) so thought this case may be little different, as I can still open the door from the interior. Yeah, I have read its potentially an expense, worth mentioning I think to Volvo while it is in - or just to get them to quote it for a laugh - I have a few trim tools and spanners, if it persists I may try it myself, or see if my mechanic I use has heard of this, he drives a XC90 so is fully aware of many Volvo issues. |

when it doesnt unlock does the rear window work? i had a wire uissue where the Cambus cable had frayed and broke so had 0 power to the door, so wouldnt lock/unlock and no rear window.
initially it would work then not, and suspect the wire was getting worse over time and then just failed completly. Not being able to open the rear door is an MOT fail.

Yes, I believe it can be an MOT fail, but the door will open from the inside and then stay open - until I lock it, so MOT wont be issue unless the tester locks the door - does it state it needs to be able to open from the outside? MOT is next year (JULY) so have a good year to fix this if needs be. |

Interesting, I have gone to open car after leaving overnight - and it opened.
Now, I read somewhere about a rear module in the car, that goes to sleep over time (on the older V50 vehicles), then reacts after a certain amount of time, and can result in such behavior, so needs resetting i.e. disconnecting the battery for 10mins or so, so may give this a go. |

Cool, ok. Just to update, my (disconnect of the battery) didn't work, just tried 1 hour ago, only reset the clock ha. locking and unlocking still issue on that door - will source a door catch assembly unit, any links would be grateful, I will most likely DIY this. Would something like this be ok: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/bugiad/15094573 Last edited by DailyHack; Aug 12th, 2021 at 13:08. |

There are a couple of UTube vids covering door handle/ card removal. They might point you in the right direction as a start.
