I'm not discussing Intercoolers here. Did I say Hengst filters are cr@p? I like to fit original fuel filters for reasons which I took the time to explain. I can buy genuine volvo filters for less than you quoted. End of story.

[QUOTE=Digidick;914433]Who makes Volvo filters then?? Just because it says Volvo doesn't make it good. Take a look at their bloody D5 intercoolers, ****e.
QUOTE] It makes all the difference , Volvo dont just stick their name on a filter someone else has designed they have them made to their own specification regarding particle size , surface area , pressure drop etc . If an intercooler can last 120000 miles on average whilst expanding and contracting everytime you put your foot down its not bad ...

chill winston.... I used intercoolers as an example of poor original parts and not a topic starter. Did I say you said they were crap? You just questioned my choice of part and I questioned yours. You only explained what had cured your fault and I'm sure any new filter would have sorted it (although cheap filter might = temp fix) and it didn't have to be a Volvo one. If you can get cheaper OEM parts then brilliant as I would also buy OEM if price was on my side. Do you get a discount or did I pay more than dealer price for mine as I never even checked?. |

but..... I don't mean to moaning about Volvo's too much as I love mine and it's costing a lot less to run than my old BMW 528 which gave me every 'common' failure under the sun. |

I had a volvo specialist check this who couldnt find a problem though he could see that the error code was related to the mass air sensor. I had thought this may be down to the turbo pressure pipe being soft and collapsing when under sustained heavy load due to the fact that as soon as I release the pedal. The car seems fine. Now that I've read this thread on the fuel filter I might give that a go. Does anyone know how to change the filter on a c30 D5? |
