Volvo 440 TD Cutting out
When the car reaches just above the first red on the fuel gauge it seems to cut out without any warning, even though there is still fuel in the tank. There are also flat spots when driving when fuel is this low and when it cuts out if you try starting it again straight away it will tick over for 2 seconds then die again, it will do this around 5 times then it will start and run again, until it decides to cut out. I know my fuel gauge isn't reading wrong ive had that checked. Has anybody got any ideas why the car is doing this. I thought it may be down to having crap in the bottom of the tank that may have clogged up the fuel filter???? Could this be the problem? Or could it be something else

keep your tank at least 1/4 full and your problem will be solved.

Hi
mine does the same. Especially if i go up a hill. I had the tanked cleaned. The fuel cut off valve bypassed to name just two of the ideas the garage had. In total it cost me £500 at a local garage. If i keep the tank above 1/4 it is fine. |
