Default S60 Towing Electrics

Hi all,
I've just fitted a detachable towbar to my 04' S60, the towbar was secondhand and came with a trailer module.

The electrics came with 3 strands, two which plugged into trailer module and one that plugs into fuse box.

For the life of me i cannot find where this plug goes, i've stripped the boot bare without success, the only plug i've found in the boot is different to the towing wiring loom plug, Any advice would be great,

Thanks

Hi,this connector should fit in the REM (rear electronic module) that is fitted to the n/s/r, behind the paneling that unclips in the boot,it fits top right, you will also require software to install.

If your car is a 2004 model year you have the wrong kit . The trailer module is for 2005 models which are different .
That grey plug in your boot with about 12 connections is where the trailer socket plugs into the car . They are not that expensive from the dealer and you only need Fog Light Application software loaded if you want your car foglights to go out when towing a caravan to prevent the red light being reflected back at you off the white caravan ...

Default Fitted towbar to 2006 s60

Hi,
have just fitted a Witter fixed flange towbar to my S60 2006. Also bought the Volvo loom - 3703542 - this is the 13 pin kit.

Got the bar fitted (twice - had to drop it again to get the wiring through as the bar obstructs the hole in the boot), plugged in the wiring kit and nothing happened. Got back onto Corner Garage who got the Trailer Module 30664975 (£35 inc vat) and once this is fitted the trailer lighting works fine. Will check the Caravan wiring when I connect it on Friday!

Thought I would post this as it seems with earlier models it was suggested you can get away without the Trailer Module. Certaintly for 2005 onwards with the 13 pin kit you WILL need the trailer module. The Volvo parts man suggested that some cars come with it ready fitted so woth checeking first.

Apart from drilling out the heatshield rivet, which you would have to do with all the kits, the Witter bar is a doddle. No cuttting or bumper removal required. Looks like a proper Volvo now!
