Hey everyone

So I stole the title and idea from Mr 4x4 and decided to have a little thread about my car. Will be interesting for me to Look back at the journey and will hopefully be interesting to others.

Mostly though I’m hoping I can use the thread to get assistance and guidance when I get stuck. There’s a lot to do to get this car looking neat and tidy so I’m going to need some help.

Anyway so below are some pictures of the car as I purchased it. It’s a 96 registered 2.5 and I believe it is an SE. It’s done 110k miles, has all electric windows (already better than my previous 850 saloon I owned a while back), a sunroof and leather interior. The previous owner has tinted the windows, fitted brembo brakes and coilovers as well as a few bits of neatening up including renovated headlights, chameleon windscreen and a power flow exhaust.

Let the project begin...!

And on to my first set of questions that I’m hoping someone can help with.

The boot trim was not attached and was sat in the boot. Looks like all the trim clips have broken apart from one. I’ve looked on eBay and can’t find any that look the same so wondered if anyone knew where I could get some from.

Here is the little blighter:

Well done starting your own build thread, car looks good and looking forward to the updates

First thing you need to do is reduce your picture size. I'm looking at this on a 42" screen and your pictures are too big to view unless I scroll the page sideways. I would suggest you reduce then to around 1200 pixels maximum.

As for the clips, they are like rocking horse poo, not sure if Volvo still supply them but breakers yard might be a source for them, you need a total of 4 for the rear trim

Thank you Mr 4x4! Hopefully I’ve managed to sort the issue with the picture size now, pretty fiddly on the iPad. Been a long time since I’ve used any picture hosting so apologies for taking over your screen,

As for the clips, I did see 4 little spaces where I assumed they pop into having slid their way into little homes on the trim itself. Rocking horse poo eh? This project is definitely going to test my patience!

Next question...any idea what these assorted bits of plastic are for?

The three small pieces are covers for the seat runners, but not sure about the larger item..
Regards your rear hatch back clips, they are the same as the V70. I get mine from Volvo.

The clips alone are probably insufficient as the plastic on inside of trim itself breaks away rendering the clip useless. You can get a tailgate repair kit which includes all you need to reattach the trim securely from PFS or Skandix or your main dealer if you're feeling flush.

I recently did the trim on the back door of my V70 with this kit from PFS, as you can see in the picture it includes the little metal pieces you will probably need to mend at least 1 of the fixing points on the trim.

and you can click and collect from Argos via the Sainsbury's down the road for the rocking horse

Another vote for the trim clip repair kit from PFV - I did this and it works fine.
