V70 Turbo Problems - Need Help Please
Hi everyone,
I own a 60 Plate V-70 r-Design 2.0 D3. Recently I've been having what I think is a boost problem. Firstly, the car starts and idles fine. But when you start to drive and put the engine under some load while accelerating, the acceleration curve isn't smooth, it kind of judders and slightly hesitates when I get past the 1500 rev range. But once I get past 2500 revs it's fine. Unless I'm on a motorway and going uphill, then you can almost feel the car coming in and out of boost slightly every second or so, it feels like I'm being rocked back and forth. But once I'm over the hill it's fine again. The best way to describe the issue at low speed (Circa 10 - 30mph) is imagine a smooth acceleration curve, it'll be a constant smooth line and very consistent throughout the rev range. Where now with my V70, it's like it starts off initially smooth, but around 1500-2500 it's like slight but very noticeable peaks and troughs. It just completely ruins the driving experience. I've also got intermittent white smoke coming out the exhaust too. Doesn't do it all the time, and it's not massively excessive, but you can see it out the rear view mirror. It seems to be thin white smoke, but it's never constantly there, it comes and goes. I'm pretty certain it's turbo related, I don't see what else it could be. I'm just not sure if it's the turbo itself or the boost control valve. Just looking to see if anyone recognises the issue or has any insight before I take it too a garage. Cheers and thanks in advance. |
