Default VIDA 2014D on XC60

Hello all

I’m looking for some information on compatibility of VIDA 2014D with the XC60. I’ve done some searching here and elsewhere but not found a definitive answer.

I’m looking to replace my V70 that I’ve owned for 7 years and an XC60 is currently top of my list for a replacement. I carry out all my own servicing and repairs so a Must Have feature is being able to use VIDA 2014D (the last standalone version I believe).

So, I’m trying to understand what’s the latest model XC60 that will interface happily with VIDA. I know the obvious answer may be 2014, but I’ve seen mention of may be up to 2015/03.

Does anyone have experience of using VIDA 2014D on a 2015 XC60, or have any definitive information.

(I’m currently running VIDA 2011D which works fine for me so I can’t even check what model years are listed in the VIDA 2014D software)

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just made a similar transition (2006 V70 to 2015 V60). What I didn't realise, is that the 15 plate V60 is a 2016 model year car - so VIDA 2014d does not talk to it

Just something to be careful of.

2014d reads 2015 model years fine.

So you just manually edit your VIN with the 2015 model year letter.

If it's a model where earlier model years were included in 2014d when it was designed, I don't see why not.

With the model year edit, 2014d can certainly read 2016 model years but as you know, it can't read new platform XC90, XC60, S/V90 etc. regardless of model year.

Any tips on the order to do this in?

I can edit the G to an F for the model year, but it still cant accept the VIN - presumeably because I have the 190 D4 not the 181? Trying to find the characters for the 181...

If I just set the options it refuses access to diags until I read the VIN which gets rejected...

worth a try some time as long as the car system doesn't crash !

OK I changed the A8 to 55 and the G to an F which VIDA accepted as a VIN, but the first thing it does is communicate with the CEM to verify the VIN - which fails and locks out diagnostics.

Any advice on how this trick is done?
