Default Removing Volvo installed Garmin Nuvi

This came with my XC90

SatNav1.jpg

This is my first time using a Garmin and I don't like it. It's too far away to control it. The touch screen is not sensitive enough and the bracket tends to dip down making the screen facing downwards.

From this thread it seems the position is fixed.

Thus, I wish to remove it. Has anyone done this before? The center grill obviously needs to come off but after that? Would there a hole under the Garmin bracket? Or can the bracket be removed without needing to pry off the grill (not that I could see)?

Thanks

There will be a hole in the grill if you remove the unit as there is a need to put a hole in to fit the bracket/wiring for power.

The best bet would be to get a new centre grill (can't imagine they are a huge amount of money) and then pry the old one off, take out the unit and then replace with the new grill.

The alternative is just to remove the sat nav unit itself and then live with the cradle sitting there... which would cost nada....!
