Speaker and amplifier issues
Hello
My front driver's speaker is working intermittently. I have cleaned the connections to the speaker at the door but it is still the same. I've noticed that when that speaker is dead and I upped the volume, it will start working. Not sure what this means. Today I thought I'd cleaned the connections at the amplifier, located under the driver's seat. There are a few connectors, does anyone which does what and goes to where? Specifically which connector goes to the front speaker? FWIW I cleaned all these connectors. Out of curiosity, I opened up the amp, and I noticed one section of the board (top left corner) looks different, as it the coating has melting. Should I worry? The circuit looks ok. Don't see any burn marks. Besides that one speaker issue, the HU and sound system on the car is fine. Thanks!

Not sure if this helps but I had the same issue and coincidently decided to remove the amp completely so I could fit a double din head unit. However the issue with the driver door speaker is still there intermittently so I'm not convinced this is an issue with the amp itself. I'm taking mine back to the car audio specialist later this month for investigation.
If you do require a spare amp I'll be putting mine on eBay in a few days time. It's from a 2007 executive with premium Dolby sound.

Thanks for the amp offer, most likely I won't need it based on your experience but thanks for the thought anyway! Do update on your findings later on after your visit to the audio specialist.

I had the same issues with the same speaker. Replaced the speaker and it's fine now.

Lan, I'm in KL. Have a spare amplifier and speakers if you wanna test.
Btw speakers do go bad due to voice coil starting to burnout, apparently this is quite common with xc90 post 07 due to volvo changing supplier of the speakers. |

I found a similar issue in another forum and some there have found the issue at the harness at the door hinge. What I did was to clean this connection and sort of readjusted the wires so it wasn't so twisted. So far it has been fine since my previous post.
