The simplest solution would be to cable tie some bits of plastic bagging over them, wouldn't look the best but would do the job

Somebody shout me down if I am wrong but having just looked at mine complete with 20 years of corrosion I cannot see the T section coming off the piston to fit a new gator.
And even if you could what are the chances of Sachs supplying Volvo gator only ? I cannot see it happening Niav I have seen a few Nivos in my time and without exception they are similar to those you see in Daveys pics. Without wishing to be blunt it is a question of take them like this, buy new Nivos or go through all the hassle of a new rear suspension set up. Sides has of course been helping you with the latter and I think there was a thread in recent months dealing with this same issue. I think the OP did not have AWD but t I could be wrong. |

Do Volvo HQ still have all the info re your 98 V70R AWD so that eg you could head down to your local dealer and get another ignition key coded ? |

Because of the issues with Nivomats on AWD when I changed my suspension on my V70 AWD I decided to go for KW V2 coilovers at £1133 as I felt it would have probably cost the same to fit new Volvo stuff. Plus I wanted to lower the vehicle.
I'm sorry but you've lost me? I don't have a V70R currently?

And there was me thinking you had. V70R with a twist !
It is no problem, I am just building the list of 98 and older 70's where owners have all of their security data recorded by Volvo so that they could as suggested, walk into their dealer next week and have a new key coded. Volvo uk are presently advising me " that because of the age of my vehicle " they do not keep the security data. Thus another key cannot be cut. Have yet to advise the stupid bitches I am dealing with of just how stupid they really are ! |

Ah I see, everyone makes that mistake 😁
I'm afraid I have no idea if they have the data for my car but I know they should! I've never heard of anyone struggling to get a new key before. What I can say though is that when I last dealt with Volvo Cars UK to ask about my 97 850R they were far from helpful saying that they held very limited information on this model year.

I think you have hit the nail on the head but not sure if Niav has. Bottom line there is no cheap alternative to replacing rear Nivos on an AWD. End of. I am not him but if I were, given the ease of fitting and the bargain price I would be biting your hands off to get them shipped to France on the hurry up. In the not too distant future I suspect I am going to need new springs and struts. If I go Koni Sport yellow it is plain I ant gonna see much change out of another six hundred quid ! Just the way it is. I wonder what a county court judge would think ? Mr Volvo you hold all of the security information to every vehicle you sell, clearly as a money making exercise. Having sole custody of that information, if you then erase it or fail to record it at the point of sale, you consider it perfectly acceptable to walk away and leave the current registered keeper with a totally immobilised vehicle ! |
