I am still able to offer all parts, please email me privately so I can deal with each request individually. This is genuine, I advertise on EBAY as well and I am able to fit complete systems, the headrest monitors have been fully crash tested with Volvo, hope this helps, Peter
Hi Peter, can you post a link to your ebay shop or items for sale.

Hi all,
for what it's worth I will give you a heads up on where I am with a similar problem. I've got a 2008 XC90 with a DVD player in the centre console with two fixed headrest LCD monitors. I don't know if the system was factory fitted or done by the previous owner. The headphones are very shabby and one set don't work. There is no branding on the headphones and the only info I can find on them is the following code in the battery compartment; IRDX18K909-AA.
They have no A/B switch or tuning dial so I'm going to assume that they are Infra-red rather than radio frequency headphones. I've ordered a set of IR headphones on eBay (very cheap) and see if they work. My point is that if there are centre console systems out there that are using Infra-red wireless headphones rather than radio frequency headphones then trying to look for transmitters or tuning headphones will just drive you crazy and never work.

Why dont you buy the Volvo IR ones (new or used)? usually some on e-bay ... save messing about ... I got an extra set (used) when we first got the car, on e-bay for less than £20, there is never lots, but the do turn up fairly frequently.

Hope it helps

elliot2 told me the new ones switch automatically. They are still radio I think. Ask him to make sure.

Thanks but I've been trying to find some on eBay for a while now without any joy.

Thanks Roy, not sure I understand what you mean though?
When you say 'new ones' do you mean new headphones or new RSE systems?
Assuming that you mean headphones does that mean they switch between Infra-red and Radio reception?

I meant the later RSE system which has a car specific type headphone transmitter system, rather than a converted domestic system as was originally fitted at the request of Volvo UK.

I don't know what the switching is on the new headphones. Peter just said he could convert the original wirless ones to the new type and that they switched automatically upon signal detection. I assumed they were still wireless but that may be wrong.

Peter (elliot2) knows all the RSE systems so he is the person to ask for in depth detail. He can supply any headphone type or parts you want.

I'd recommend getting a media entertaniment module fitted as you can fit hundreds of tracks and movies on a 1GB hard drive and not worry about only having 10 DVD's in the player. It costs about £200 as I remember.

Quick update on this for anyone interested. Just got a couple of sets of Infra-red headphones and they work perfectly. The infra-red transmission is coming from directly beneath the LCD monitors. Just going to order a few spare sets of headphones (£2 + Postage on eBay).

Have you the link killerbeg? it may be useful to others trying to source IR headsets.

Sure, this is the one I used: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6m-IR-Wire...ht_4123wt_1392
Delivery took about 7 days but there are loads of sellers on eBay and Amazon that will deliver much quicker if you're not a cheap as I am.
Don't forget you're searching for 'Infra-red wireless headphones'.
