RE: T5R front brakes again - and again!
HI All
As I started this thread ,this is how I see it but I may be wrong, the standard 850 T5.T5R and 850R all have 280mm (15") front disc,s although the T5R uses a different spec disc it is still 280mm The police spec 850,s may use 302mm (16") disc,s.The police V70 T5,s do from information on this site ,also the V70 T5 with 16" wheels has 302mm (16") disc,s .The calipher on all models I am told is the same CAN SOMEONE CHECK this out only the mounting bracket is different, the saga goes on Cheers Alan |

RE: T5R front brakes again - and again!
Hey Dudes,
Ive just written an article for technical driver all about this.... The 302mm dics was a police upgrade that was made available to the public for about £800 from Volvo as an option. The option kit included Discs, Calipers and Pads. That is why some cars have the larger brakes and some dont. More recently the cars have had the 302mm brakes as standard (finally) although as Alex quite rightly said, for some insane reason the C70 Coupe on the Lancaster Pirbright forcourt has 280mm brakes, made to look even sillier by 18" alloys!!!!! ;) Phil :-)

320mm as standard..... dunno if that would fit in a 16" wheel would it??
Who cares anyway.... the APs are 325mm!! }> Phil :-)

Nope, my 302mm disks only have about 3 maybe 4mm clearance on the caliper/wheel. The wheels were 17" - it looked like 320mm but I'm not sure if it was.

It seems that I've been misinformed and misinforming others too - I've done what I should have done earlier and measured my front discs.
On a 1996 spec standard R they are indeed 280mm as you said, Phil. Looks like a 302mm size is on its way when they need replacing unless I can stretch to the AP kit, though the insurance implications of that are a concern. |

the new v70 / s60 brakes are 305mm disks at the front - a totally different design from the old 70/850 one, and not compatible.
they also updated to 225/50/16 tyres as well now. |

Don't no if the mk1 V70 mounting bracket will fit on an 850; the mounting bolts are a different thread and diameter. contact me on www.T5UK.com if you want to buy a set of V70 front/rear callipers along with all brackets and mounts as I have a set for sale that are fully cleaned and in excellent condition.
