Bonnet won't open!
Hi there.
Little problem with my V40: the bonnet won't open! The latch is all properly connected, and it pulls on the release cable, but nothing seems to happen. I have tried to get a coat hanger around the release mechanism, but it's very fiddly, and no joy come of it. I know that the front grill is bolted on and so I am now resigned to having to break/cut away the front grill in order to get to the release mechanism. That is, unless anybody out there has a cunning idea... ? (I must confess that I haven't tried WD40 yet...) Thanks. |

Is there any resistance when pulling the cable? If so, get someone to pull the cable whilst you push the bonnet down. If not, I would think its the cable snapped

Thanks for the replies.
I don't think the cable has snapped as there seems to be some resistance. Anyway, I going to try your suggestions, and hope for the best! Thanks again. |

Ask someone to open it while you pull the lever. It should open.
Then, raise the rubber stoppers a few notches up before you close it, and it should click when you open it next time. |

Got it open! Bouncing the bonnet didn't work, but pulling it upwards from the bottom did the trick! So simple, yet so effective! Thanks to all once again. |
