95g/km average?!?! Wow, no wonder the manufacturers are all moving towards hybrid systems.

Heh, true, but it's a shame that it's paying customers doing the testing for them

True, from a selfish point of view by the time I get around to buying again in 2018/19 they should have it sorted.

Most of the paying customers are company drivers. The private motorists out there must know they are early adopters and, as with any technology change, being at the bleeding edge hurts.

How many more BS bingo phrases can I pepper this with ?

Doubt it would directly affect their finances. I understand that car manufacturers carry insurance (even if it is their own insurance company - ie a separate/independent part of their business) that pays out for warranty claims, in the same way as many general retailers carry supplier insurance as a condition of being supplied with goods by a manufacturer, so if the shop won't or can't pay for the goods, the insurance does.

Just the way things are I suppose. Thing is it will be the customer 'in the firing line' or rather the one who suffers as if Volvo refuse to honour a warranty claim, then so will the dealers do the same to the customer. The customer then has to chase up the dealer whichever way they think fit, and the dealer likewise to Volvo. A right load of sometimes unnecessary hassle for the customer.

Did you see that on the forum Nigel? I read the new XC90 forum articles and haven't seen any EGR issues posted, did I miss them?

Haha

I just wish they'd been more leading edge than bleeding edge. Perhaps if they'd done a few more test cycles, they'd have drilled down to the core of the problem. As it is, they haven't leveraged their expertise, and are hoping to kick the whole thing into the long grass.

I can't find any press releases that confirm this. Are you sure you're not confusing Volvo cars with Volvo trucks which is a separate company?

Volvo position the DPF so close to the engine I would have thought that Ad Blue would be useless at the much higher operating temperatures experienced. Ad-Blue is normally only used where the manufacture can't manage fit the DPF close to the engine so the exhaust temperatures are much lower.

Yes, I saw that but it didn't mention the forum so I assumed he'd seen it seen it somewhere else as I haven't seen it despite reading every new XC90 post.
