For me both interior and exterior are streets ahead of the current model as you would expect and despite its appearance it's only an inch longer and less than an inch wider from memory when I checked a while ago. When you drive it it certainly feels no larger than the current model and far superior in all respects. I love it and cannot wait to take delivery.

I had a letter from my dealership today, asking if I wanted to make any last minute changes. I have added electric child locks @ £80, but only if it doesn't set the delivery date back.
I personally don't have a use for it, but thought it might benefit a young family further down the line.

I had a longish test drive in the new XC60 R-Design D5 yesterday. It's clearly a generation ahead of the current XC60 (in fact, I'd go so far as to say it feels like they've skipped a generation).
Since the dealer is unsure of whether we're going to get a new V60 next year, I suspect I may be ordering one soon. |

To me, your dealer wants your money now, not next year, so he'll say what he can ( without outright lying ) to persuade you to change sooner rather than later. But if you really like the XC then go for it, but if you'd rather have the V then there will be a new one next year if you can wait that long. Decisions.......

Logically the V60 on the new SPA platform should follow quite soon. Much of the development work will be common.

V60 nice, but really enjoyed the XC60. Will be spending most of its life on the motorway but will be nice to be able to dump it on rough ground in the Lakes and not worry about scraping the underneath. Slightly elevated driving position better too. Fuel economy will take a hit but then again, the V60 fluctuates randomly between about 40 and 70mpg. |

New XC60 Model 1st Test Drive
I was invited to my local dealer today for their "Platinum Event" when I took the opportunity for an unaccompanied test drive of the new XC60 - D4 Inscription on standard suspension.
Must admit having owned from new 2 x XC60 D5's that I was very impressed on many fronts: 1. Interior Cabin - takes Volvo very clearly up a level into clear BMW/Jag/Merc territory in all areas. 2. Display Layout - loved the new dashboard and cabin screen layout, very intuitive functionality with precise feel to operations. 3. The engine was very responsive ...... and that is from someone used to a Polestared D5. I am not planning to replace my current 2 year old car until next summer, but I am now confident that Volvo have another winner to carry on from the last XC60 range. My hope is by next summer that Volvo will have: a). Been forced to offer discounts inline with current XC90's discounts currently available - min of 11%. b). Introduced the T6 into the range for MY19 - it's available throughout Europe & USA but NOT the UK yet. My expectations of the above are pretty high especially as the UK car market over the next 12 months will be a lot lower than the last two years as firstly the FCA are going to be looking at the incorrect selling/pricing of PCP contracts often based on a far too high residual value (even more so after the recent electric car decisions!), and secondly that Volvo will be forced to open up the available options combinations just to get every possible sale in a declining market. The dealer has my No and was confident that he will be able to make the call next summer based on the above criteria.
