The 2 Senator B 3L CDs I owned had air con and tilt/slide sunroof as standard equipment as did my early Omega Elite and the facelift Omega Elite I now own has climate and a tilt/slide sunroof also as standard.I always thought that one would defeat the object of the other.Back on topic it would seem that comfort is high on the "must have" list of most replies and not many have put economy on their list.Personally I find the economy of both my 2.4 V70 and 3.0 Omega to be decent for what they are and I'd sacrifice economy for comfort any day.If I did the mileage that demanded economy I'd LPG a big petrol and keep the comfort and the near silent cruise ability.

Dunno... The D5 isnt loud at all when wafting, my V70 is very quiet. As I see it, why have high fuel bills when you can get oodles of oomph and comfort for much less!

Having driven a 10 plate S80 with a diesel engine in it [don't know what D number they have]I found it-compared to my petrol V70-to be rough noisy and unrefined.I've also driven a S40 diesel which I found to be much the same, various other diesels I've driven have been pretty much the same so would never under any circumstances consider a diesel powered private car.Although bothe my V70 and Omega have tow bars fitted that's solely due to the fact they were on when I bought them and I've never towed with either so don't need the low down torque of a diesel. As said if doing the mileage[which would then justify the cost I'd LPG a big petrol, but I don't do big mileage these days and the majority of my journeys[daily commute]are under 3mls each way and would kill a dpf in short order unless I made the effort to take it on a regen run once a week or something which of course with a petrol I have no need to do.

Exactly,it's each to their own isn't it? Long may the differences be celebrated, life would be so dull if everyone was the same.

The car that`s keeping the Volvo from turning a wheel in anger is a Citroen Xsara Picasso of 06 vintage, its was for sale down the road and ive never tried a Citroen. Needed a car to take the kids, dogs weekend tip run etc, basically do all the volvo things. Its got a little poke when needed, has done over 50 mpg over its 7 months of ownership, great driving position and very practical. I wanted a car that I don't have to wash and polish twice a week, if dented, I wouldn't care etc. Was warned well off them by all my friends, have earned no dad points since buying it. Get ribbed by fellow football dads when I park up next to their Audi`s and Bmw`s.
Fitted a DAB cd radio and it does all I need and I still have the use of 3 other vehicles |
