I've spent four years bringing a couple of old Citroens back to life. One of them will be finished in the new year and will be in showroom condition, the other probably done by summer time (that couple of days in June) and will be in very good condition. I'll probably take them to a couple of shows just to prove that there's no point if you're not in the clique - and I'm certainly not! Unfortunately I've seen this in quite a few car clubs.
I tend to stick to the meets that are not single club as the pompous attitude is less and the craic is better. |

I think the thing people have got to remember is that the BKV is not a concourse d'Elegance competition. It's just a bit of fun to be had alongside the main meet.
With this in mind, there will never be a way to please 100% of entrants. This years show, basing models on platform as opposed to model name/number was a step forward, as it stopped brand new S60's being judged against 15yr old ones. I personally feel there are a some tweaks that could still be made to make the competition more accessible and fun, as opposed to it being about who has the most money or time to spend preparing their vehicle. If anybody else has any other suggestions, I'd be keen to hear them, perhaps whilst they helped us judge a class. (Because it's when you help in doing the judging, that you get to realise just how complex the issue is and there is no easy fix!) |
