Looks as though you have found your leak - can I just ask the location of the driver's side rear footwell? Is it under the driver's seat or under the rear passenger leg space?
If you have difficulty with obtaining the engine manual someone will either scan or photocopy.
The only absolute essential is to change the belt unless you know it's been done less than 5 years ago. Abundance of reading matter, volvoturbodiesel.blogspot.com is a nice introduction.
You might want to change the gearbox and final drive oil - it won't have been done and no oil lasts 20 years.
You will find that little tends to go wrong, but it might be useful to have to hand a Yazaki speedometer, a glow plug relay or two, and a set of Bosch glowplugs.
You are a bit far away from Lakes (Wyboston) to pay a visit and nearly all of the diesel stuff has been plundered anyway but were it me I would go taking my spanners and spend an hour or two acquiring a full set of brake callipers, just in case, plus the above.
