Default V70 bumper adjustment

Hi,

The rear bumper on father in laws 99'T' V70 XLT is sagging.

Looking underneath it appears that the bumper mounts have rusted through.

How easy is it to remove the bumper, replace and refit? Is it a DIY job and if so how long?

Does anyone know what the parts are that will be required?

Thanks in advance
John

its quite easy apart from the metal brackets are no longer available from volvo you need to jack up the rear remove both wheels and drill out the wheel arch rivits

then you need to lower the exhaust to get to the bolts 14mm is the size 1 either side

then pull it backwards you need two people to refit it to make life easy

did mine today in about an hour and half but needed to take off and on again

Of course they are still available http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...-rear/1022448/

A good idea is also to change the 2 long bolts which hold the bumber, they also tend to break when you are changing them.

Also you will need 6 pop rivets for the bumper.

Thanks for the info gents - much appreciated.

Does anyone know if there is a UK supplier for these brackets or what the part number is?

Also note from looking online that the fixings wheel arch side are pop rivets - has anyone replaced using plastic (xmas tree???) fixings? if so do you know where i can get these?

Obviously these brackets aren't rust proofed very well so I'd better waxoil when i refit.

Thanks again.

Did the job last night - didn't need too much effort to remove - just the 6 screws in the wheel arches... mounts were so rotten they came away in my hand so perfect timing i think!

About an hour or so later and all replaced and refitted.

No other rot down there around the mountings so must just be poorly rust proofed fittings.

I ended up buying as suggested here from Skandix - i bought all new bolts for bumper and mount and cost approx 70EUR got to say that they arrived within 2 days and i couldn't find them on any UK site so would recommend to anyone else who's going to tackel this.

Thanks again gents for simple honest advice which has made my life easier and my wallet less strained!!!

I got a set from Volvo last year September/October time no problem I assume they have stopped supplying them since then.
I had to wait a day or so for them too so they must have had a reserve of them.
