Oil dipsick broke!!!

S40 / V40 '96-'04 General Forum for the Volvo S40 and V40 (Classic) Series from 1995-2004.

VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net users. Forum owners such as us are finding that AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net are blocking a lot of email generated from forums. This may mean your registration activation and other emails will not get to you, or they may appear in your spam mailbox

Whilst changing the oil on my v40 today the dipstick broke just below the black O ring, didn't put any force onto it just merely touched it and it came apart (wasn't in the engine at the time), the plastic has clearly broken where it is thinner at the O ring. A replacement is £13 from volvo so not broken the bank. May be worth checking as it would be a right pain if it dropped inside the dipstick tube although I know that can be removed if needed Typically the dipsticks on my dads V70 and 440 where different in length and diameter at the top but do seem to far more substantial than the V40!! Phil
