Default A few questions 😊

Evening folks

I’d a wee look at the “tailgate open” problem today on my car and when I pulled the loom from the left hand side of the tailgate I noticed it’s been opened up before so I tidied it up a bit but couldn’t see any broken wires within that bit of the loom so I’ve still got the messages sting tailgate open. Does this problem also stop the load area light from working too?

Is the next move looking at the catch within the tailgate itself?

Also does this affect the radio reception too as I can see no aerial on car so I’m guessing that’s part of the side or rear glass set up??

Car is going in tomorrow for it’s new drop links to be put on so hopefully no more clunking 😂

Another wee question is does the heated window and the windscreen blower switches light up when dash lights are on or is it only the small orange “on” lights that light up?

TIA

Scotty

You don't say what car you have.

You don't say what year but I believe that the V70 may well have the same central dash control as my 2012 XC70 and on that all the buttons are illuminated when the dash lighting is on.

The center console isn't the same 2008-2011 as 2012-2016. But the buttons are illuminated whichever you have. The button's symbols have been illuminated from behind since the days of the 740.

If the rear door open/closed status is wrong, and the boot dome light doesn't work, it could be the lock. What about other things in the rear door? Does the wiper run? Does the window demist work?

Ok guys, discovered that a bulb in the unit was out so the demist buttons are now illuminated, happy days 😎 I’m ocd when it comes to these things.

I’d a look at the loom yesterday coming out the tailgate and it’s obvious the car has had this problem for a wee while as the loom had been opened up and a couple of wires had been tapped up and a couple had small nicks in the but only on the wire coverings so I’ve now covered these with insulation tape but the tailgate open message is still there as is the light near tailgate not coming on.

So, I’m guessing that there’s a problem with the tailgate lock itself?

Ps it’s a 53 plate V70
