Default V70 T5 top engine mount

Hi, should the torque bar and top engine mount have any play? As mine moves loads, so took the bolt out and it's got about a 1/4 Inch play and you can practically spin it round lol.

what exactly has play in it? if you grab the bar with one hand yes it will move as it absorbs the movement of the engine.

If you mean the aluminum mount on the top of the engine head? no this is solid aluminium and should be rigid - but the rubber or poly bush will move to again absorb motion.

It's the rubber bush in the aluminium mount which seems really loose, to the point it spins round like a round peg in a square hole

OK - you can buy the whole aluminum piece quite reasonably with a poly bush in it already OR you can buy just the bush and fit it to your existing one.

when you remove the bar dont undo the mount bolts that are welded to the suspension - undo the vertical bolts that go through the bar.

you must remember it is NOT an engine mounting it just holds the engines torque reaction , stops it rotating basically . there is a shorter one underneath the engine too . Yes the metal bar is supposed to move .
