Default Brake bleeding order (‘96 940 estate)…any tips?

Hi all,
A quick Q, my petrol 940 is overdue a flush and bleed of the brake system, the pedal is a little long and I suspect some air in the lines. I’ve got my trusty Gunson Eezibleed and have bled plenty of brakes before, but I can’t remember the definite correct order to bleed them on a 940…to my mind it’s LHR>RHF>RHR>LHF but I’m not sure if I’ve got my fronts and rears mixed up in order…I know it’s a diagonal system (and went through the procedure on two 740s in the past!) but my memory has deserted me on it, and I don’t want to get it wrong!

Any and all advice gratefully received as always 🙂
Phil

Start furthest away from the M/C and work towards it
Mark has the correct order.

Thanks all!

The plot thickens a little with it unfortunately, as the rear 8mm caliper bleed nipples are totally mangled (looks like the PO attacked them with mole grips), and I can’t get them undone with a ring spanner or socket as per the other 11mm nipples. I didn’t want to attack them with mole grips and risk shearing them off as I need to use the car today.

It looks like I’ll need to replace them…any ideas on the best way to get them out and/or where to find replacements? The ‘bay seems bereft of any for a 940, oddly.

They are total b**tards to get out ! I had to put the caliper in a vice and then heat the bleed nipple up. I then hammered a slighty smaller 12 point socket over it and it came out. Very easy to shear if you aren't careful !! I replaced mine with new titanium ones from Bigg Red.

New bleed nipples are/were available from my dealer when I needed to replace mine. The usual methods of penetrating fluid and a lot of patience etc were eventually successful, together with a large dose of “please God let this work”.
Very small movements initially then more fluid etc. Don’t try to rush it.

Thanks all! I’ll give Yeovil Volvo a call and price up genuine replacements, although the titanium ones sound appealing! Does anyone know the dimensions of them? I would whip one out and measure it myself, but chances are I’d never get it out (or indeed back in!) in one piece!

Give them several good doses of penetrating fluid and be sure you have replacements before you start trying to remove them. Once the replacements are fitted and you have completed the bleeding etc. smear some grease on the remaining exposed threads. It works for me.
