Default '09 V70 T6 Buzzing

I went to view an 09 plate V70 T6 AWD today and when I opened the bonnet I could hear a buzzing noise. The car was unlocked but the engine had not been started.

I discussed with the mechanic what I thought it was and he just said it was the alarm or immobilizer and it was nothing to worry about. I'm no mechanic but it doesn't sound right to me and the noise seemed to be coming from by the battery.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this and if so should I be worried? I would appreciate any comments.

Many thanks
Mark

I get the same thing from my S80 D3 - always assumed that it would be to do with the glow plugs, fuel pump priming, or some other 'necessary' pre-starting system.

Obviously, glow plugs won't be relevant on a T6 though.

If we're lucky, Clan will be along at some point to offer an expert opinion..
