Default Chance of Serious Head Injury as Rear Passenger

I recently had a near death experience travelling in a freinds S40 as a rear passenger.

We happened to pass over a large bump which caused the nearside to dip down without the offside following. My head proceeded to strike the C-Pillar cover on the inside, which happens to be made of quite hard plastic.

I wonder if its common for the rear passenger to sustain a Head Injury through impact with the C pillar in an accident?

PS its not like i am a 7ft giant either, just 5ft8??

Mate - if you're going to escape from bank jobs in your lunch hour you'll draw attention to your crew by travelling quickly in a Volvo. Banging your head serves you right! How much did you get by the way?

In a "proper" accident a curtain will pop down between your head and the side to protect you , if the car is after 2000

Look at it this way, if the plastic gives way and your head hits the metal beneath then that's what would really hurt. That "hard plastic" could have saved your life

Neither do I.

I made a 12 pence profit on our lunchtime 'bank job' if I remember correctly!

Part of the SIPS, air bags/curtains that inflated across the windows. Just google it for exmaple as I'm sure there probably a You Tube vid that will pop up.
