Default 164 Servo

Hi all, Rob here, I'm new to the forum.
I have a friend's Volvo 164 in for repair.
Basically the brakes are dreadful, the pedal is hard and requires a massive effort to stop the car. I'm pretty certain the servo is the cause of the problem. I have checked and even replaced the vacuum pipe which made no difference. the servo does seem to hold vacuum but doesn't do anything to assist braking. After pumping the pedal and holding it down, then starting, it doesn't drop like normal.
So, my question is, does anyone have a servo I could buy or know of a repairer?

Thanks in advance

Rob

When I bought my 164, it had the same symptoms. The previous owner's garage had fitted a new servo and master cylinder but not solved the problem.

It took 30 seconds to fix once I located the issue. The non-return valve in the vacuum line from inlet manifold to servo had been installed the wrong way round. Worth checking!

John
