Default XC60 (2015) Drivers door lock wont open using the remote

I have a 2015 XC60 that's been a great car but for the last couple of days I've had problems with the drivers door lock.

With the car locked and using the remote, most of the time the drivers door will not unlock. Occasionally it will work fine, then next time it wont.

It locks fine, and I can use the emergency key to open the door. All other doors operate fine.

I can hear the solinoid click.

I have put some silicone spray down where the door button is to see if that might ease the problem.

My thoughts are that either the solinoid has gone weak on me, or the linkage ihas somehow come adrift and there is more friction somewhere.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I had the same problem with my S60 a couple of weeks ago, the drivers door would only lock when the deadlocks kick in, then it wouldn't unlock with the fob so had to drop the windows and reach in to open from the inside, annoying to say the least especially when it was persisting down!

New door latch cured it for me £180 plus VAT from Volvo.

When it doesn't unlock, can you see the little orange light on the door illuminated to show its locked?

Seems to be getting more common recently . I had the same thing on the passenger front door .
If you are competent you can replace the small motor in the lock or fit a complete new lock .
Other than that it's getting someone to do the job for you

I dont know if it would be relevant but Volvo had a recall on door latches, I will leave the info below, maybe check yours and if there is an outstanding recall because than might turn out to be good at the end.

"A Volvo door latch recall has been issued for nearly 145,000 model year 2011-2017 Volvo S60, S60I, V60, S60CC and Volvo V60CC vehicles.

The automaker says a component within the door latch may break and give people a tough time when trying to latch the doors. Occupants may believe the doors are secured properly when they aren't, leaving open the possibility of a door opening while driving.

According to Volvo, a latch can weaken and the retention hook for the pawl spring in the door latch may break off if the vehicle is exposed to hot climates. The automaker says simply opening a door can cause a latch fracture.Customers may notice problems when trying to close the doors and may see warning lights indicating the doors are ajar."

If it's any consolation, mine went exactly the same way a year or so ago, same car MY 2016. It needed a new door lock actuator. Seems to be another common fault and the dealership said that to me. No contribution from Volvo. Stand by for the SRS airbag module to fail! (Better start saving up).
