Default V60 CC 2.4 D4 autobox problem

So i had noticed a slight hesitation in certain conditions, it looks to me that at very light load and in high gears the box cant decide which gear to engage and it will start jerking

is not very evident and it happens only very sporadically and on very specific conditions (light load, high gear, slightly downhill) but i dont like it

maybe time to do a hydraulic fluid change? havent received the cable yet so cant look at diagnostics...

What year is the car and the mileage? Is it a 5 cylinder D4 or a VEA 4 cylinder?

A transmission fluid change could help. Just make sure you use the correct fluid, as the wrong fluid can cause all sorts of problems.

What’s the mileage? I’d do a few sump drain and fills, drive the car for a few hundred miles in between each. Lots of info on here regarding the method.

There are some photos on the thread I did for my previous car here which will help, post #5 for starters. Note you’ll need the later fluid for your model, check the manual.

I intend to do the same on my recently acquired V60 CC (90k miles, same 5 cyl engine and 6 speed box as yours) when I get time as preventative maintenance as from experience it really helps.

Cheers
Stu

To save posting another thread, but its a similar subject...

Hi Stu,

I'm planning on doing a gearbox service when I clean my EGR valve out... Makes sense to do it then I think, especially as the airbox has to come out of the way to clean the EGR/throttle body. I'm also going to change the oil earlier than its due because of the issues I've had with the swirl flaps.

My oil service technically isn't due until January next year, but like I said, I'm doing it early and will change it again in January 2025 just to keep the maintenance up. I don't want to change my service date... I remember January, as that's when the MOT is due

Do you think a single drain and fill of the transmission, then repeat it in January would be okay? Or is that too long?

hi kev any auto box service /fluid change will be beneficial. its to late once the box starts acting up. i do a 3ltr sump dump on the gearbox fluid at each service it keeps the fluid clean and red. i have 251k on my geartronic and it still works well. ps reset the fluid counter with vida no need to do the adaptions unless you have had problems with shifting.

is a 5 cyl 2.4 D4

just got the cable and will do some tests and logging with VDASH

actually i thought the problem could also be related to the engine stuttering at very light loads due to EGR. seen that in other diesel cars. i guess the engine acting up can confuse the autobox especially at very low torque. otherwise shifting is perfect.

EGR will go as soon as i figure out how to do it with the sw, if it is possible at all.

car has 133k km which translates into 84k miles.

what is the reason for the partial flush and refill rather than a full change?

if you get rid of the egr your car may experience difficulty regenin the dpf as the egr is part of the regen process check the duty cycle of the egr to see if its working within parameters bad connections at the injectors have been known to give gearbox faults with your diagnostics check the tcm for any faults like intermittent signal
