engine surges at steady speeds
I have a J reg manual 240SE b200f engine with 2.4 jetronic system (91k on the clock) and at about 3000 revs in second or third gear the the engine suddenly surges and the car jumps forward feeling very similar to a turbocharger cutting in (it hasn't got one by the way). This usualy happens after the thermostate has cut in (a rise in temperature on the dial and then falls back to normal)and after approx 9/10 miles - or after the car has being driven and left for 1/2 hour before restarting. After the fault happens it corrects itself and everything runs ok. I have checked plugs and electrical connections and for air leaks etc.
Anyone have any ideas? |

RE: engine surges at steady speeds
Any error codes stored ?? Just put the capbe in No2 and press the button once, you should get 1-1-1 on the LED then put the cable in 6 and repeat again, 1-1-1. Check the connector on the temperature NTC located under the inlet manifold under No3 3 pot. If you have a meter measure between each pin ( 2) and ground, they should be very similair resistances and at 80 degrees will be about 250 ohms each. Reseat other connectors and check you have a clean click from the Throttle switch at both extremes. Regards Peter
