tow bar key replacement???

hi ya all,

got my self an xc70 2001 shape, didn't know that it came with a tow bar when i got it, but found it tucked away with the tool kit... nice one!

problem is it has a key lock on it & i have no key! now i know its a genuine volvo one because it has it on it, with the part number etc. phoned volvo dealer up & surprise surprise they say its no good with out the key cant get replacements!.... surely ya can? can any one help me with this please?

Hi Peace
Who is the manufacturer of your tow bar? This is normally on the plate. Mine for instance is a Brink.
Contact the manufacturer direct for their advice and help. In an earlier post on the same problem Brink provided replacement keys when contacted with details of the car.

thank you mate! mine is the same make, thought about doing that... so will do now. just phoned the dealer i bought the car form to see if they will call the previous owner & see if they still have it.... worth a try!

Isnt the number stamped on the key barell somewhere? The dealer CAN get spares , ask him to read his bulletins .
